Steelhead Trout

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pound of Steelhead Trout
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Yellow Onion
  • 2 Minced Garlic Cloves

Seasonings (mix all ingredients below & set aside):

  • 1 Tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Pepper
  • 1/2 Tsp Tumeric
  • 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Dried Oregano

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch lined baking sheet or dish with the cooking spray of your choice.

Step 2

Place your fish in the middle of the cooking sheet. Evenly place your chopped onions and garlic on top of your fish.

Step 3

With a gentle hand, sprinkle your seasonings party evenly over your onion, garlic topping and spray your canola oil to lock down those spices in place.

Step 4

Place your seasoned fish in the pre-heated oven and roast for about 17-20 minutes. Cooking time can vary depending on the thickness of your protein and its fat content.

Step 5

Remove cooked trout from the oven, lightly cover with aluminum foil and let it rest for about 5 minutes before you use a fish spatula to take the fish off the baking sheet to eat or store in your glass meal prep containers. Enjoy!

NJAPP Tip: There are 2 ways to check your Steelhead for doneness: 1. The Steelhead will start to release a white milky substance when the cooking process is finished. Simply scrape off the white substance before serving. 2. Use a fork to gently prick the fish, and if it flakes easily, your fish is done.
